Hethorîon was once a minor lordship in the Kingdom of Vahîn, which drew its prosperity from trade. Vahîn was overrun by barbarians in the Age of Hordes, and was the last Tarsin Kingdom to fall. But trade must go on, and Hethorîon became the only safe stop between the Coalition and the Lost Realms. The Barons of Hethorîon have been keen to cash in on this lucrative position, and have grown disproportionately wealthy and influential despite only commanding one star system.
In the distant past, Hethorîon was a paradise much like Vogelîon, possessing a population of billions. Fragmentary records refer to a "Republic of Hethorîon," but such records cease at the time of the Beacon Cataclysm. At some point, ecologic disaster left most of the planet's surface either scorching desert or frozen tundra, and today Hethorîon holds a population of only a few hundred million. Unlike almost all other Tarsin planets, Hethorîon has several alien enclaves in its capital, founded for the purpose of hosting merchants and traders from afar. Rumor has it that the Baron of Hethorîon often turns his head the other way when it comes to breaches of Imperial Law, and all kinds of contraband can be found there if one knows where to look.
